Patent Agent - California
Haynes Boone is seeking patent agents with 2+ years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm environment to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have at least a Ph.D. or M.S. focused in (a) one or more of cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, genetics, immunology, virology, or a related technical field; or (b) one or more of chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or a related technical field. Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is required.
Candidates should have broad technical knowledge and must have experience conducting prior art searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses, analyzing patents and scientific papers to assist with patent preparation, prosecution and counseling, drafting patent applications, and prosecuting applications before the USPTO. Excellent academic record and written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English, is required. Graduate and undergraduate transcripts and a writing sample will be required. The starting base salary for this position is expected between $110,000-$180,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
